Negril’s best kept secret are the cliffs. Moving west down Norman Manley Blvd., after the round about Negril’s beach turns into a 5 mile winding road of coral cliffs. Up here the hotels, bars, and restaurants are built right onto the edge of the water, even though it is forty-feet down. Here you can cliff-dive, snorkel, explore underground caves at places like Rick’s Café and The Rock House. Because the cliffs face west, it makes it an ideal spot to kick back with a rum punch and watch the sun set.            

 

Beer Pong Package Hotels are relatively small and simple due to zoning laws that prohibit building higher than the tallest coconut tree. Properties are either Oceanside or directly across the road; you are never more than 200 yards from the Caribbean.

Transportation in Negril is very simple since there is only one main road that hugs the ocean. Cab drivers are everywhere and easily spotted by their red license plates. They cost about $1 – 2.50 per person to get around town. Mopeds, motorcycles and bicycles are also available if you want the flexibility to move at your own pace. Be careful though of the roads and always make sure to inspect before renting. Renting a car is expensive and not necessary. Many cliff hotels offer a free daily shuttle to and from the beach.
